Wonchi Crater Lake

Wonchi Crater Lake is an extinct volcanic caldera located at an elevation of over 3,000 meters above sea level between Ambo and Woliso. The caldera encloses a serene, deep-blue crater lake surrounded by verdant alpine vegetation, waterfalls, mineral hot springs, and farmland. On a central peninsula and island within the lake stands the historic Cherkos Monastery, accessible via wooden boats. The area offers eco-tourism experiences including horseback riding along mountain trails, trekking through crater valleys, and boat rides across the calm waters.
